This course will explore the range of cultural interactions in the ancient Mediterranean world. From the Bronze Age (ca. 3000 BCE) to Medieval period (ca. 1300 CE), we will focus on specific moments when disparate cultures interact with one another resulting in multi-cultural art. As powers and empires rose and fell, we will use an international perspective to see how trade and diplomacy impacted the creation of art and material culture.
